How to release anxiety before it builds
Read
When you notice early tension — racing thoughts, raised shoulders or an urge to keep checking — pause for ninety seconds. Say, “I notice anxiety,” rather than “Something is wrong with me.” Place your feet on the floor and take six unhurried breaths, letting each exhale last a little longer than the inhale.
Then use a quick 3–2–1 grounding exercise: name three things you see, two sounds and one sensation where your body meets the chair, floor or clothing. If a frightening scenario returns, put the words “I am having the thought that…” before it. You do not need to decide whether it is true now; notice it and return to your surroundings.
Finally ask, “What can I do in the next ten minutes?”. Choose one small step: reply to one message, write down a question for your doctor, drink water or take a brief walk. If anxiety regularly interferes with daily life, consider discussing it with your GP or a mental health professional.
